GOOD NEWS

Central and Metropolitan Community Church will offer a Longest Night Service of Comfort at 5 p.m. this coming Sunday, December 21.

It will be open to the community.

Often called a “Blue Christmas” service, it is a reflective, quiet worship service for those who find the Christmas season difficult due to grief, loneliness or other hardships.

The service acknowledges sadness, loss and pain, providing a compassionate and communal space to mourn and find hope among the traditional and joyful Christmas celebrations.

Holiday Bake Sale

Cookies and Fudge and Pies and Cakes! These are a few of our favorite things.

On Dec. 13, we had our annual holiday bake sale. We raised more than $2,400.  Portions of the proceeds will go to the YWCA Women's Empowerment.

Healing Circle for Democracy

We will join with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice for a Healing Circle for Democracy. It will be an evening of sharing and support.

The Topeka Center for Peace and Justice is a coalition that provides emotional and non-religious support for individuals in the Topeka and wider areas who struggle with stress caused by our nation’s current political administration and its policies that manifest locally.

It supports:

  • Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations

  • The inherent worth and dignity of all people

  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process

  • Building a diverse, multicultural community that strives to dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4775 SW 21st St.

Trunk or Treat

We had a great turnout at Sunday’s Trunk or Treat — more than 200 people visited us for candy and fun. One guest commented that ours was the best Trunk or Treat they had been to so far. Thanks to everyone who contributed and participated!
